Apologies if you've noticed my absence. Life and its surprises have unsettled me and I've found it hard to write about the simple pleasures that feature here. Today feels different though and so I am popping in to share some of the less challenging achievements of recent days.
First up, this dress, finally finished.
I've had the fabric for this dress for close to a year now. It is tana lawn bought from Liberty London when I visited last year and chosen with the small possum in mind. I ummed and ahhed for far too long about what it would become, finally settling on a simple shift dress. The binding, also Liberty, was a last minute inspiration and I am pleased with how the two fabrics work together. The pattern is from my favourite Girls Style Book. Like this dress, the body is dress R and the sleeves are from top B.
Also made this week, more curtains and a doona cover for the big girl. She has been telling me for a long time now that she is too old for pink gingham bedding, but it has taken until now to find the perfect replacement. She now sleeps amidst white butterflies on blue and I am left with the off cuts of the sheet from which they came.
Last but not least was this chocolate cake, attempted for the first time. It is so perfect in every way that I may never use another recipe again.
oh such a pretty dress, and divine looking cake, such things are there to feed the soul xxx

Oh my, that dress is just so beautiful. Liberty prints really are fab aren't they and that one is just so gorgeous and girlie. Love the binding, you're right the two prints are made for one another - inspired work T, what a corker.
Now to the cake - all I can say is "if only you lived a little closer" !!
Happy weekend.
PS - I do hope all is well and your surprises weren't nasty ones, just the usual hectic ones that go with the territory I guess. Take care x

I love Liberty. I was lucky enough to shop there in person for the first time earlier in the year - what an amazing store! Thanks for dropping in and commenting on my blog (and "de-lurking")! ;o)
